We currently have the following open positions:

    • Receives, assesses and responds to concerns of child abuse and neglect by interviewing parents, children and youth, assessing strengths and needs, inquiring with appropriate agencies developing safety plans. Subsequent actions may involve moving the child to an in care or out of care placement and/or court processes.

    • Collaboratively develops and implements plans by identifying client needs, establishing long- and short-term goals and resources to support the children and families.

    • Ensures the ongoing management of cases by monitoring progress towards goals, coordinating services, consulting with other service providers, examining the terms of the contract and making referrals to other agencies as needed.

    • Prepares documentation for court, files documents and ensures legislative requirements are addressed within required timelines.

    • Facilitates alternative processes for dispute resolution. Collaboratively engages families in determining appropriate processes (e.g. family circles, mediation etc.) Job Title Child Safety Social Worker

  • This role requires ability with specialized mental health expertise, particularly in community and Indigenous settings. This position will serve as the primary intake workers at Orca Lelum, providing a therapeutic, trauma-informed approach to care. Reporting to the Program Lead, with day-to-day supervision provided by the Therapeutic Supervisor, the Intake Worker will also provide visibility for Orca Lelum in community gatherings and any outreach endeavors.

  • Our Contracted Residential Care Home is seeking a compassionate and dedicated individual to join their team as a Residential Child/Youth Support Worker, specially focused on providing care and support to First Nation youth. This role will involve working closely with young individuals from First Nations communities, ensuring their safety, well-being, and personal development within a residential setting. The successful candidate will play a vital role in creating a nurturing and culturally sensitive environment that promotes growth, healing and empowerment.

    The successful applicant will have:

    • Diploma or degree in Child and Youth Care, Social Work, or a related field (preferred)

    • Previous experience working with First Nation youth, preferably in a residential or group home setting

    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and establish trusting relationships with the youth

    • Empathy, patience, and the ability to provide trauma-informed care

    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a proactive and solution-orientated mindset

    • Flexibility to work shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as required

    • Valid driver’s license
