Robina Thomas: New Indigenous Leadership Role at UVic

Kw'umut Lelum is very proud of our Board President Qwul'sih'yah'maht - Robina Thomas - as she prepares to fill the newly-created position of associate vice-president Indigenous (AVPI) at the University of Victoria. Beginning this spring, Robina will be responsible for creating and enacting a strategy to integrate Indigenous cultures, histories, beliefs and ways of being and knowing across all aspects of the university's mission.

As the current executive director of the Office of Indigenous Academic and Community Engagement (IACE), and a remarkable educator and researcher at the School of Social Work, Robina has already accomplished so much to further Indigenous representation and decolonization at UVic. We raise our hands to the university’s leadership for continuing to address the real work of reconciliation, and we celebrate the accomplishments of Qwul'sih'yah'maht as they help create a stronger voice for Indigenous people in academia.
