Make a Sensory Bottle With Your Little One!

A sensory bottle can be a great toy to help little ones calm down or self-regulate, to explore, and to engage their senses without a lot of mess. And they are very easy to make!

  • Empty water bottle

  • Baby oil

  • Food colouring

  • Water

  • Glitter, buttons, sequins, beads or tiny toys

  • Glue gun

Fill half the bottle with baby oil. Fill the rest of the bottle with water. Add 8 – 15 drops of food colouring to achieve the desired depth of colour. Add desired amount of sparkles and/or sequins. Use a glue gun to glue the lid to the bottle – make sure to not leave any gaps without glue as this could eventually lead to a leak. The best way to do this is to glue around the threading of the bottle and then quickly screw on the lid before the glue dries. Leave bottle to dry for 2 minutes prior to shaking.

You can make themed bottles – red, white and green beads/glitter for Christmas; snowflake sequins with blue water for winter – use your imagination!
