No Ice? No Problem. Ball Hockey Grows in Popularity

Kw’umut Lelum’s Community Ball Hockey Program is a weekly drop-in event at the the John Barsby Lacrosse Box. We started in September with a small group of Nanaimo children and youth, and a dedicated team of KL support staff and coaches; and now see more than 30 children and youth coming out to play every week!

The purpose of this program is to encourage children to come out and play back-to-back short games for fun; whether you are new to floor hockey have experience, this low-barrier program is where you come to form positive relationships, and learn technique in a group setting. Free for anyone to attend, Community Ball Hockey brings opportunity to Indigenous children, by providing equipment and encouraging parents and caregivers to be engaged in supporting their child’s interest in sport.

If you are looking for a fun hour of physical activity for all ages, come join us Thursdays at 5:30 - our last game of the year will be December 12th, but we will be starting up again in Janaury after the school break!
