The 6th annual Hope and Health event in Nanaimo was a resounding success!
Nearly 400 children and 60 volunteers filled the Merle Logan Turf Field for a day of skills-building with VIU and Vancouver White Caps FC players and coaches. It was one of the largest events to date!
Kids were able to meet and play with some of their favourite players, learn from some of the best coaches in BC, and got to take home all kinds of goodies. The boot drive provided a ton of new and used cleats for kids in need, and the Bell mascot provided great entertainment.
While the day is intended to provide Aboriginal children and youth with an opportunity to build resilience and life skills through sport, the ultimate success comes from seeing the look of joy and abandon on each young face.
Thank you to the Hope and Health Foundation, Vancouver White Caps FC, VIU, KL staff and the many volunteers who made this day possible.
