Hope and Health Soccer event with Vancouver Whitecaps returns to Nanaimo August 31st! Kw’umut Lelum is excited to welcome back the Vancouver Whitecaps FC as part of the 5th annual Hope and Health soccer event, taking place in Beban Park on August 31st. Open to Aboriginal children and youth between the ages of 5-18, the event uses soccer to build connections, inspire hope and promote healthy lifestyles. Whitecaps FC players and coaches don’t just show up to sign autographs and pose for pictures – they provide hands-on interaction with the kids by hosting soccer drills, games, and even a goalkeeper clinic. The event is presented in partnership with the Hope and Health For Life Society, Kw'umut Lelum, Vancouver Whitecaps FC and local corporate sponsors. Last year’s event attracted nearly 400 children who were able to learn about good sportsmanship, teamwork, and healthy choices in an environment that supported and celebrated their culture.
