Community Care Committee

Establishing Community Care Committees is a goal Kw'umut Lelum hopes to accomplish by November 2006. It is a new project and approach which makes use of community resources, including the Sulhween (Elders), a Chief and Council representative, Kw'umut Lelum Social Workers, resource workers, (in social services, education, and health), parents, and youth. Committee members are core to the process of providing the best possible service to children and families because they know the history, resources, and family trees to their community members.

Chief and Council from each community will endorse membership to this committee, and each care committee will be accountable to their community.

Committee members must complete required training, sign an "Oath of Confidentiality", provide a criminal record check, and be of good standing in the community. Kw'umut Lelum invites community members to forward names of people recommended to sit on this committee.
